Project overview
This project is the digital publishing system for a monthly Turkish business magazine aimed at SMEs. The "KOBİ Dergi" shown in the screenshots is a demo brand, and the people and companies in the demo content are fictional.
The core decision was to keep the magazine as data rather than as a PDF. Each issue is made of pages stored in the database, and each page is rendered with one of 13 templates: cover, contents, article, article with image, interview, quote, full-page image, image and text, two-column, author profile, section divider, advertisement and custom. Content stays searchable, editable and able to reflow for different screens.
The admin panel has admin and editor roles, with rate limiting on login. Issues move through draft, published and archived states, can be duplicated and previewed before going live. The page editor supports drag-to-reorder (SortableJS), live preview and a Tiptap-based rich-text editor. The media library resizes uploaded images and stores them as WebP. Authors, categories, settings and users are managed from the panel too, and a cache-clear button was added for hosts without SSH access.
On the reader side, desktop shows a two-page spread with a 3D page turn, while mobile shows a single scrolling column. Readers can zoom, go full screen and navigate with thumbnails and a table of contents. The public site has a home page, archive, category pages, sitemap and robots file.
The stack is Laravel 12, PHP 8.2, Blade, Tailwind CSS 4, Alpine.js, Vite and MySQL, with tests in PHPUnit. The platform is prepared to deploy on cPanel shared hosting.
